122 Day Plan

Free · 122 days · about an hour a day

The Bible in four months.

Jesus first, then the origin story, then the theology, then the ending. Roughly two chapters a day plus a psalm and a proverb.

September·

Know Jesus.

Mark gives you the fast narrative. John takes you into his identity. Acts shows what happened next. By September 30 you should be able to explain who Jesus is from scripture rather than from church clichés.

Sep 1 to 6
Mark 1 to 13

Watch a free book overview before you start. Highlight every use of the word “immediately”, and ask what that pace is telling you.

Sep 7 to 13
Mark 14 to 16John 1 to 10

Mark every “I am” statement in John in one colour. The structure of the book will surface on its own.

Sep 14 to 20
John 11 to 21Acts 1 to 2

Start the prayer ledger this week. Date every request, and be specific enough that you could tell whether it was answered.

Sep 21 to 27
Acts 3 to 15

Teach ten minutes on who Jesus is according to Mark, to an actual person. Teaching is the study method, not the victory lap.

Sep 28 to Oct 4
Acts 16 to 28

Acts 1:8 is the literal outline of the whole book. Trace where each section begins.

October·

Understand the story.

Now go backward. The goal is not to finish 1,189 chapters. The goal is to know what story the Bible is telling, from creation to messianic expectation.

Oct 5 to 11
Genesis 1 to 25

Word study on “hesed”. English has no single equivalent for it, which is exactly why it repays the effort.

Oct 12 to 18
Genesis 26 to 50

Follow Genesis 12:1-3 through Galatians 3, Romans 4, and Hebrews 11.

Oct 19 to 25
Exodus 1 to 40

Selected Leviticus and Numbers alongside. Exodus 20:2 comes before 20:3. Rescue precedes law. Sit with that ordering before you read another commandment.

Oct 26 to Nov 1
Deuteronomy 6Joshua 1Judges 2Ruth 1 to 41 Samuel 162 Samuel 71 Kings 8

Build the spine by hand: creation, fall, flood, Babel, Abraham, Joseph, exodus, covenant, law, wilderness, land, judges, David, division, exile, return, Messiah.

November·

Learn the theology.

Slow down. Romans especially should not be rushed, roughly a chapter a day. This is the month your study becomes theological rather than only narrative.

Nov 2 to 8
Romans 1 to 8

Track sin, justification, faith, grace, righteousness, and adoption as they are introduced. Start memorising Romans 8:31-39.

Nov 9 to 15
Romans 9 to 16Galatians 1 to 6

Romans quotes the Old Testament constantly. Read ten of those quotations in their original setting.

Nov 16 to 22
Psalms 1, 19, 23, 42, 51, 63, 73, 91, 103, 139Isaiah 6

Pray only in the words of the psalms this week. It will feel constraining for two days and then it will crack something open.

Nov 23 to 29
Jeremiah 29Ezekiel 37Daniel 6Jonah 1 to 4Micah 6Habakkuk 3

Watch how the prophets hold judgment and hope together in the same breath. Neither one cancels the other.

December·

Put the whole Bible together.

Synthesis, then output. Teach something every single week this month.

Nov 30 to Dec 6
Matthew 5 to 7James 1 to 5

Both are about the gap between what you believe and what you actually do.

Dec 7 to 13
Ephesians 1 to 6Philippians 1 to 4Colossians 1 to 4

Map every prayer in Ephesians. Paul almost never prays for circumstances. He prays that people would know something.

Dec 14 to 20
Hebrews 1 to 13

This is where October pays off. You could not have read this book properly in September.

Dec 21 to 27
Revelation 1 to 22

Genre first, because that is where most misreading starts. Then read Genesis 1 to 3 and Revelation 20 to 22 side by side and watch the story close.

Dec 28 to 31
Final exam

Take a passage you have never studied. Thirty minutes. Then explain context, genre, observations, interpretation, cross references, theology, application, and prayer.
